The Green House renovation/addition was designed to function as the center of Church youth activities in a fast-growing congregation. It provides classroom space, assembly areas, offices and a commercial kitchen in residential style setting. In an effort by the Church to respect the surrounding historic district, the existing residential structure known locally as “The Green House” (because of its original color) was retained as the heart of the project. Three “pods” were arranged around the house to maximize use of the odd shaped lot and reflect the historic building placement pattern of the neighborhood.
The Green House was awarded received the first “Thinking Outside the Box” by Historic Savannah Foundation in 2010.
